Elsewhere, Steg Thomson has invited us to comment to his latest work

http://www.footstompin.com/public/forum?threadid=1621208

There have been several favourable comments but they seem to me a bit like Gordon Brown's claim to like The Arctic Monkeys or David Cameron being a Smiths fan.

Actually, ah find the first wan ok.... needin the backing track level tae be reduced so thit the voice can be heard withoot competin wi it.  And he's no really singin... mair a bittae poyetry harnessed tae a computer generated track.

Ah unnerstaun the sentiments, but thurs too much victimhood in it, and ah think that's wannae the problems.

I listened, briefly, but like yerself Sonja, I got caught up with reading the bollocks that some people were posting. JAJ made some harmless and ambiguous quip and someone decides that freedom of speech is now a crime, along with incitement to hate poor quality performances.

I know that the sandpit gets some stick from certain parties, but it seems you can't legislate for people with shit for brains.

Can't disagree with a single word you've said, Oxy.

I think EC's remarks were honest and true.  I was talking to Mr S this morning about how, in some US tv stations, they seem to have a preference for British presenters.  I think it could be because they can have those presenters be more direct in their criticism of whatever the situation is, whereas, for many American presenters it seems to be more important that they smile and say 'Have a good day' while sticking in the knife in the back... That forum is attuned to US style commentary, I think.

In fairness to them, it's not really a discussion forum. It's a CD shop with a begging bowl attached.

I just hope Steg was a better soldier than he is a 'musician'.

hahaha! The traces of received pronunciation in the accent rather give the pretence away.
