What's the serial number on the Gibson, Onny?

I had 8056 (1908) which was a beaut but way to good for me.  I swapped it for my Tacoma bass and a Fender "Beater" mand after I went to the loo at a session and discovered someone trying to smuggle it out of the pub under their jacket!  A minute longer and it would have been gone.

All the best

Steve
Onny

My serial number is 25805. Mine is too good for me too.

I bought it in Mandolin Bros on Staten Island on a w*rk's piss-up to New York. The owner, Stan Jay, had previously played it down the 'phone to me.

I used some of the proceeds of the sale of a 1917 Gibson Alrite
which I found in a charity shop in Bearsden. The restoration work it needed was done by Jimmy Moon and later Bill Wright of the Wright brothers who ran the Vicky Bar Friday night session for years.

If that was is too good for ye Onny, does that mean that you'd play an instrument that's just a workaday model?  I've never seen you with an instrument in your hand in all the years I've known you....
