Catskinner's one word reviews of Brampton Live

What I saw and one word for my impression based upon that performance:

Chris While & Julie Matthews: Splendid

Mary Gauthier: Splendid

Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders: poor

Nancy Kerr & James Fagan: Excellent

The Lancashire Hotpots: poor

Tom Kitching & Gren Bartley: Impressive

King Creosote: Boring

The Spooky Menís Chorale: Stunning

Oysterband: OYSTERBAND!!!!

Boo Hewerdine: Excellent

Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies: Splendid

Elbow Jane: so-so

Annabelle Chvostek: Boring

Barbara Dickson: Trouper!

Peatbog Faeries: Repetitive

I missed a lot of others through choice or circumstance. It was a rerr wee festival overall. very well run and not overpriced.

I'll be back.
Redlornie

OYSTERBAND!!!!!!! Finally in my neck of the woods in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!
Catskinner

I ought to add to the above.

Eliza Gilkyson: Superb.
Redlornie

Aww, I missed Eliza Gilkyson too? No fair!!

They were the Friday night dance band.  I bounced up and down goodstyle along with everyone else.  The sound was a bit 'muddy' but and so the vocals weren't as precise as I've come to expect from them. Because they were playing for dancing it didn't matter too much and, as usual, there were enough people in the crowd quite happy to 'sing' at the top of their lungs every word of every song.

And I expect to hear that you've managed to hold another conversation with John Jones...... angel4
Redlornie

Erm...I asked him to be ma pal on Myspace and he said yes and sent me a cheery wee email telling me to say hello to him at Edmonton....does that count????   bounce
Rid Sonja

It's a beginning...just remind him that he was your pal at last year's Big Session as well, for 15 minutes... flower

Fangirls!

*Hauds heid in hauns*

For anybody that's interested Jez Lowe was wearing a stripy jersey and a black weskit at the weekend.

If you're having to use a jack you should see a doctor.
PedallySteve

Can't have been more than an eight on any scale as I wasn't there.

Steve
Redlornie

Nor me, so you're right Steve, it can't have been THAT good!
Rid Sonja

Little dae ye's know, Steve and Red.

The festival was good, but what lifted it into the stratosphere was the company of friends...we laughed, and we sung and we got more than a little pissed together, disagreed marginally on some of the acts, and agreed wholeheartedly on the last drink of the weekend what a fantastic time we all had (we've even got a photo)....everything you need to make a fantastic weekend...

You wouldn't want to be an 8 on the Glasgow Coma Scale.

So whit yer sayin' is that ye didny miss me or Steve attaw attaw...ats fine....<sniff, sniff>  Smilie_PDT
Rid Sonja

Stop trying to put words into my mouth you!!!

Of course we missed you and Steve!  We didn't miss Daisy (whow as happily esconsed (sp) in my house with Wee RS for the weekend.

You would have been proud of me as I boogied to the Oysterband, you know!  That only happened because you weren't there to represent us so it fell to me.  You would have had us at the festival site at the proper time on the Sunday instead of an hour late.  Fortunately the whole festival was running an hour late so we still saw everything we wanted.  Barbara Dickson did a very fine performance on the Sunday. All's well thit ended well..

And now, for you there's Edmonton with your very good friend Richard...
Redlornie

Ah know!! See me? See proper excited?? Ah'm ur!! Ah've been practising talkin' tae growd ups all week too....
Rid Sonja

Ah know!!  Ah could tell!!

Just remember the first rule is to breathe in

Then talk.  Pause. Talk again etc, etc, etc...it gets easier with practice.  Really!!  And soon you'll be having conversations.....
Onny

Apparently you can download 'breath in -breath out' reminders downloaded to your iPod. Check out most of the blondes wandering around Glasgow city centre Smilie_PDT
Catskinner

Here you!

I'm blonde! Or was before I went baldy and grey.
