I wonder how much the University of Glasgow paid someone to advise them to put the 'of' in italics.

I worked at GGHB whilst Harry was the Heid Doc. I have to say I found him a very pleasant chap indeed. Wasn't surprised he got the big gong recently. Has he been a bad boy in some way?
Rid Sonja

Ah wondered that too, Winnie....

The premise seems quite plausible.

That's an excellent summation of things, I think.

The importance of Attachment to a consistent caregiver from day one is well researched within Psychology, so it's great to see a medical person broaden his perspective to see that biological ailments - and more importantly, the lack of self-healing - are sourced within negative psychological mindsets.  A child's options of decent care giving and parenting does not exclusively depend upon Mothers and Fathers.  A loving, consistent care-giver can be any stable adult  with whom the baby can form an attachment bond and become a stable dyad unit.  Of course the more stable bonds that a child can form over time also greatly enhances a child's chances to overcome strife and turmoil.  As the article says, it's when there is no stability, no coherence, in the child's schema of 'normality' that creates the effect of a stranger in a lost land for the child.
