Kitchen worries

I just took a carton of chopped tomatoes and black olives out to start the dinner. The instructions say -- Bend over before tearing open --

I used scissors as I am famous for decorating the kitchen with ingredients like this

At least you read the instructions.

My favourite way of redecorating the kitchen is not to read the instructions for the pressure cooker.

Ah don't use pressure cookers, ah prefer slow wans coz ah like tae no worry aboot the grub wance it's put oan tae cook.

Ah ran ootae onions a coupla days ago but ah hid a few frozen wans, so ah put thum in a pot wi a wee bit oil, goat them sizzling n turned thum doon tae fry.  Takes longer wi frozen veg cozzae the watter but ah thought ah'd be smart n hiv a wee cuppa tea while they gently sauted.  When ah goat back the onions wur cooked aw right - bottom ae the pot wiz black and ah hid tae cut up sum auld leeks thit wur in the bottom ae the fridge n start again...Ah wiz only makin carrot soup tae...

I hate pressure cookers since the great mushy peas fiasco some years ago. We moved in to our house and the previous owners had left an old cooker that still worked ok but was hard to control the gas jets. Mr WJs dad had gi ven us a pressure cooker that he never used but I thought I'd have a go with it. Mr WJ was partial to a mushy pea or two so I thought that was cheap enough to experiment with. The bloody thing went loopy and I ended up with green mush all over the kitchen, the walls were tiled so it came off without too much work but I never got it off the polystyrene ceiling tiles.
Now I have 2 slow cookers and use them all of the time. Coming downstairs on a cold morning to a pot full of ready to eat porridge is a real treat.

btw the goatse style tomatoes and olives were very tasty

Ah;ve never used it fur porridge but when wee RS comes hame fur the weekend next week ah think ah'll try it coz then there'd be two ae us thit wid eat it.  Whit's the timetable?  should ah pit it oan just afore bed n wi less liquid?

Thats what I do, and leave it on low all night. you have to experiment a bit with the water to get it how you like it. It depends on your SC. Little Miss WJ is down first and she has hers then puts the SC on the warm setting till I get down for mine. Add in some dried friuit and it is delicious, the fruit swells up and is juicy. we also add cinnamon paste to it
Rid Sonja

Wee rs likes cinnamon and I like a dollop of Maple Syrup.  Got to be the real stuff but..  bounce

I made a casserole to be eaten on Tuesday evening after what was going to be a very busy day. Assembled all the ingredients, did all the prep, set the oven controls so it'd be ready just about the time I expected to get home.

I even remembered to change the timer on the oven to account for the clocks going back on Sunday.

Home just after 9pm I walked into the kitchen to see the dish and contents still sitting on the worktop.

Age is a terrible thing.
