I often intended to go in Hamish, Iain and Dannys day but life always got in the way. At least Dick & Brain and the Macs are on. (So Steven C's song will be there at least).

What sort of bike EC?  Motor or Touring?
East Coaster

Just your typical push bike which The Danes use.

Very handy for getting from pub to pub, venue to venue.

I usually take one of the more modern ones.... with brakes. With many bicycles over there, you pedal backwards to stop!

I've ridden bikes for the past 25+ years, never having learned to drive.  Started off with a ton-weight folder bike, then moved on to a Raleigh Caprice.  I loved that bike but I out-grew its capabilities when I started to cycle longer distances.  Next came the first of my 2 Touring machines.  beautiful, they were.  You cover twice the distance for half the effort compared to the ubiquitious montain bikes everyone has these days.

However, last year I decided that I wasn't going to tour by bike anymore and bought a 'sit up and beg' bike based on the Dutch design.  Went to the bike shop where I had bought all of my family's bikes and got something close to what I wanted rather than one just off the peg.  So, nicely rounded handlebars and a dutch back wheel lock which immobilses the bike and, more importantly, stores the key in it when it's not being used.  Ergo -I never leave the house without my bike keys anymore.  I've spent pounds on new locks just because I forgot to bring my keys...

As for those wheel brakes, I couldn't get used to those.  I like two decent brakes that lets me 'walk' down a slippy/gravally track while still in the saddle.   glasses7

I believe you still have a pair of regulation issue bicycle clips.

Pedal backwards?  That's what used to be known as a "fixed wheel." I think it's only legal in this country if you have a front brake as well - that was the case in the 60's when I was at school.

Watch the festival site take shape over the next few weeks....

It's all starting to take shape.
Mind you, the main showground area is only one part of the estival which takes place in several venues throughout the town.........

Looking forward to this and I can almost taste the curry already..  colors
