The contemporary combination of clarsach and cello, as represented by these two graduates of the RSAMD Scottish Music course, draws on a tradition dating back to the 18th century, when both instruments often accompanied the fiddle. ....................

Despite its high level of competence, the duo's performance fell markedly short of the standards demanded by today's Scottish folk scene.

Two stars.

Seylan got a mention in The Diary yesterday for being able to get her cello on and off a bus. Unassisted. Clever lassie.
